Cordelia Baxter, Strategic Planning Director at moravienthal

Cordelia Baxter

Strategic Planning Director

Cordelia joined moravienthal in early 2022 after spending eight years with regional credit unions across Ontario. Her approach to budget planning stems from her own experience managing household finances for a family of five during her husband's career transition in 2018. She discovered that traditional budgeting methods often fail because they don't account for the emotional aspects of spending decisions.

What sets Cordelia apart is her ability to help clients identify their spending triggers and develop personalized strategies that actually stick. She holds a Certificate in Financial Planning from the Financial Planning Standards Council and regularly attends workshops on behavioral economics. When she's not reviewing client portfolios, you'll find her testing new budgeting apps or reading research on consumer psychology.

Matthias Chen, Client Education Specialist at moravienthal

Matthias Chen

Client Education Specialist

Before joining moravienthal in mid-2023, Matthias taught adult education courses at Seneca College for six years. His background in education shapes how he approaches financial literacy – he believes complex concepts become manageable when broken down into practical, actionable steps. His specialty lies in helping clients understand the connection between their daily habits and long-term financial goals.

Matthias developed our signature calendar-based planning system after noticing that his students learned better when financial concepts were tied to specific dates and events. He earned his Certified Financial Education Instructor designation in 2021 and is currently pursuing additional certification in retirement planning. His weekend hobby involves creating visual aids and infographics that make financial concepts more accessible to visual learners.

Our Philosophy on Financial Guidance

We don't believe in one-size-fits-all solutions or complicated systems that require spreadsheet expertise. Our approach centers on understanding each person's unique relationship with money, then building practical systems that fit into their existing life patterns.

Time-Based Planning

Every financial decision happens within the context of time. We help clients map their money decisions to their actual calendar, creating realistic plans that account for seasonal expenses, irregular income, and life events.

Behavioral Awareness

Understanding why you spend is more important than just tracking where you spend. We focus on identifying patterns and triggers, then developing strategies that work with your natural tendencies rather than against them.

Practical Tools

Our systems integrate with the apps and tools you already use. Whether you prefer digital tracking or pen-and-paper methods, we adapt our guidance to match your preferred way of organizing information.

How moravienthal Started

moravienthal began in late 2021 when our founders realized that most financial advice assumes people have regular, predictable income and expenses. But real life is messier – freelance income, seasonal work, unexpected medical bills, and family obligations create budgeting challenges that traditional methods don't address well.

"We wanted to create a service that acknowledges the reality of how people actually live and earn money, rather than how financial textbooks assume they should."

After spending 2022 developing our calendar-based approach with a small group of clients, we officially launched our full service in January 2023. What started as a way to help people in similar situations has grown into a comprehensive system for anyone who wants to align their financial planning with their actual life patterns and goals.

Today, we work with clients across Canada who appreciate our practical, no-nonsense approach to budget planning. Our focus remains on education and skill-building rather than managing investments or selling financial products.
